The Amateur Traveler talks to Colm Hanratty from HostelWorld.com about Dublin, Ireland. Colm has been living working and studying in Dublin for the last 17 years.

“Dublin is the gateway to Ireland. It is a very welcoming city. It is a very compact city. You can see the main sites and the more off the beaten track sites in about 3 days. There is good nightlife as I am sure everybody knows as Ireland is famous for its pubs. There is good shopping, the restaurant scene is good. It’s just a lovely city. The main attraction, the Eiffel Tower of Dublin, is the Guinness Storehouse. Funny enough our Eiffel Tower is about alcohol.”

We talk about the best pubs, some of the distant history (Vikings, book of Kells) and recent history. We also talk about a couple of day trips from Dublin.

Hi Chris and Colm,

A very enjoyable podcast about a fantastic city. I visited Dublin for my stag do in 2005 and experienced many of the attractions talked about, including the Temple Bar area (obviously being a stag do), the Viking Duck tour and also went to a Gaelic football match at Croke Park, a great atmosphere and a superb finale to fun packed weekend.

I have added the link to The Travel Bloggers Guide to Ireland. Looking forward to the next show.

Kind regards, Simon
