The last event in the celebration of Geneva’s Escalade (the celebration of the victory over the Savoy in the early 1600s) is a late night parade and bonfire. You can see how the flash lit up the air here which was think with the smell of burning pit from torches. It was a fun ceremony but you do end up covered with black ash. The Escalade is celebrated in December.
